The Professional Standards Bureau consists of two units. The Professional Standards Unit / Internal Affairs and the Training Unit. The Gloucester Township Police Department is committed to providing law enforcement services that are fair, effective, and impartially applied. Officers are held to the highest standards of conduct and are expected to respect the rights of all citizens. Officers’ adherence to these standards, motivated by a moral and professional obligation to perform their job to the best of their ability, is the ultimate objective of the Gloucester Township Police Department. The Gloucester Township Police Department Professional Standards Bureau – Internal Affairs Unit, has a dedicated Detective committed to thoroughly investigating all alleged complaints against our employees. Internal Affairs complaints against a police officer or police department employee are accepted at anytime by a member of the Internal Affairs Unit or an on duty supervisor. If a supervisor is not available an officer will accept the complaint.
The Professional Standards Bureau Training Unit is responsible for maintaining all training standards for the Officers of the Department. This includes firearms, use of force, tactics, first aid, blood borne protection, incident command, law updates, the Field Training Program, and all in-service training for our Officers.
